About Jumpin’ Joe Madigan
For this year’s WVYL broadcast, I will be spinning 1960s garage and soul records, all on vinyl and all at 45 RPM. The show is built around the raw energy and character of these recordings, highlighting a sound that feels immediate, lively, and deeply rooted in the era that produced it.
Radio is special to me because it is a companion medium. It has allowed me to connect with people not just locally, but around the world. One recent highlight was welcoming a listener from England into the studio for a special broadcast, a reminder of how radio can bring people together across distance through a shared love of music.
My musical tastes are grounded in classic artists from the 1960s and beyond, including The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Remains, Elton John, The Merry-Go-Round, and The Left Banke.
